Photography Clinic

The Equine Photography Clinic

Message from Simon:

“While the day is about understanding how to get the right picture you want, we won’t be spending huge amounts of time on technical aspects of each camera being used. This will help a lot as the knowledge of everyone on the day will be varied and to make sure you all get the best out of the day, I want to spend as much time focusing on being in the right place at the right time for the right picture!”

Course content
A combination of practical work and theory/technique throughout the day. Starting the morning with introductions and a brief but essential walk through of some camera necessities. Then outside to the first session of the day. Each individual will get a chance to take some pictures and try out their own ideas ready for the afternoon.

After lunch, we will examine the pictures, and learn from each other with more instructional tips from Simon, then back out to the horses to fine tune the days learning.

Everyone on the day will also be able to choose one of their own pictures to have printed up at the end of the day.

Aims and objectives
This clinic aims to teach you some fundamental knowledge about your camera and how to use it to improve your photography of horses.

You'll learn some useful tips and tricks that will make getting the shot you want of your horse a little less challenging and more enjoyable.
Facilities required
Facilities required are somewhere dry (and ideally warm!) where you can all sit to go through the photographic theory.

You will need a camera. Anything from pocket “point and shoot” to DSLR. Various layers of clothing for the weather as we will be outside for a large part of the day. Lunch, drinks or snacks as appropriate.
